Friendship Works mentors are ordinary people doing extraordinary things to improve the life chances of vulnerable children and young adults. We evaluated the effect of the project on both mentors and ‘mentees’.
We were commissioned to work with Met Office staff to understand their knowledge and experience of Educational outreach, the effects of it on staff, pupils, the organisation and wider communities; and suggestions for future programme development.
Working with the FA, YST has established a network of school partnerships across England to increase girls’ access to football, both in and out of school. We were asked to assess how well the program works.
The DfE funded a 3 year programme delivered by YST using lead teachers with expertise to support school staff to develop their inclusive practice in PE and school sports for pupils with SEND. We were commissioned by the Careers Enterprise Company to work with innovation hubs across the country to develop a Theory of Change and evaluation framework and approach for each.
This project, funded by the Nuffield Foundation and in collaboration with NatCen and the University of Newcastle, investigated how children aged 5-11 spent their time outside of school, and the implications for their academic attainment.
The Local Government Association wanted us to explore effective practice in services supporting Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children through the National Transfer Scheme, whereby children and young people are transferred from the LA they arrive in to their permanent placement.
SEN Support is provided for pupils with SEND who do not have an EHCP. The DfE commissioned us to investigate what effective SEN Support looks like in schools and colleges.
We were commissioned to develop a detailed understanding of local service provision at each stage in the EHCP process and identify drivers of users’ satisfaction and practical service improvements.
